Congratulations on deciding to get married. We would love to help and support you as you get ready for the big day! A wedding is one of life’s great moments, making life-long promises and receiving God’s blessing.

In order to get married in St Cuthbert’s or St Hilda’s you need to show that one of you:

  • has at any time lived in the parish (see image) for a period of at least 6 months or

  • was baptised (christened) in the parish or

  • was prepared for confirmation in the parish or

  • has at any time regularly gone to church services in either St Cuthbert’s or St Hilda’s for a period of at least 6 months

or that one of your parents, at any time after you were born:

  • has lived in the parish for a period of at least 6 months or

  • has regularly gone to church services in either St Cuthbert’s or St Hilda’s for a period of at least 6 months

or that one of your parents or grandparents:

  • was married in the parish

Wedding Cost

The cost for a wedding in St Cuthbert’s or St Hilda’s starts at £700. This includes administrative assistance, the reading of your banns in church, a meeting to arrange the service details (usually with the vicar), a wedding rehearsal, organist and verger (the person who unlocks and sets up the church before the service). St Cuthbert’s can seat up to 250 and St Hilda’s 150. Please note that this cost is set by the Church of England nationally, not by St Cuthbert’s or St Hilda’s.

Optional extras:

If you want to arrange your own flowers, then there is a £10 per hour charge for opening the church.

A local license to film your service, £40.00.

Reading of Banns Cost

If you are getting married in another parish, but live in Kirkleatham Parish, you will require your banns to be read in church on three Sunday’s prior to your wedding. The cost of this is £54 and includes administrative assistance and a banns certificate.

Wedding Blessing or Renewal of Vows Cost

The cost for a wedding blessing or renewal of vows starts at £130. This includes administrative assistance, a meeting to arrange the service details (usually the vicar), a rehearsal and verger (the person who unlocks and sets up the church before the service). There is no limit to the number of guests - St Cuthbert’s seats 250 and St Hilda’s 150.

Optional extra’s:

Organist, £115
